Admissions

EVC does not discriminate based on race, color, gender, religion, age, marital status, disability, or national origin in the administration of its policies and school-administered programs. Please note, however, that EVC reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone the school believes does not meet its academic standards for admission.

Admissions Procedure

EVC's training programs are for people who are seriously considering becoming allied health workers in acute-settings, long-term care facilities, doctor’s offices and home health. All students wishing to apply to an EVC program must complete and submit an enrollment packet. Applicants may complete the application form on campus.

The complete application procedure includes the following steps:

  • Submit an enrollment packet with a non-refundable $75.00 application fee.
  • Submit identification of identity (California ID/Drivers License and Social Security Card)
  • Submit a recent passport size (2x2) photo of yourself
  • Submit an optional 300-word essay explaining your goals and interests in life.

The admissions process is complete only when all of the required items have been received at EVC. The optional 300-word essay helps EVC understand applicants as a whole person and adjust some teaching strategies for meaningful learning experience.

Additional Requirements

Upon acceptance into a course or program at EVC, the applicant needs to meet additional requirements. These requirements are established by the California Department of Health Services (DHS) and any additional costs are the applicants responsibility. All forms must be completed with authorized signatures and submitted to EVC prior to the first day of class.

Livescan Fingerprint

LiveScan is an automated background check that requires digitized fingerprints. The fingerprints are electronically transmitted to the central computer at the California Department of Justice and verified against their criminal records. All applicants who cannot pass the livescan background check will be automatically denied admission to, or subsequently withdrawn from any course or program.

Medical Examination

An applicant must submit a complete physical exam report signed by a physician (MD), Physician assistant (PA), or an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). Applicants must pass a health examination to prove that they are not a potential threat to the well being of a patient. All applicants who cannot pass the health examination will be denied admission to, or subsequently withdrawn from any course or program.

Tuberculosis Test

Worldwide, tuberculosis (TB) is the most common infectious disease. Applicants must pass a TB test to prove that they are not a potential threat to the well being of a patient. All applicants who cannot pass the TB test will be denied admission to, or subsequently withdrawn from any course or program.
