Home Health Aide Program
Course Description
This is a 1-month program that qualifies students as home caregivers. This program is designed for CNAs who wish to become certified home health aides. Home Health Aides work in a variety of health care settings, but are found predominately in the field of home care. It is a 44-hour add course to follow a nurse assistant curriculum. Throughout the Home Health Aide curriculum, specific referencing to content covered in nurse assistant training is included. This referencing includes the number of the DHS Module and the number of the Nurse Assistant Training and Assessment Program (NATAP) Model Curriculum Unit.
Prerequisites
The student must:
- be at least 17 years of age
- be a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Graduation Requirements
Home health students are also required to complete the twenty-two (22) hours of clinical practice in nutrition, cleaning care tasks, personal care services, and communication skills with a satisfactory grade. Clinical practice must be under the supervision of competent instructors.
All home health students have to complete twenty-two (22) theory hours with average score of 80% or better. Students are required to take removal exam if they fail to get the required grade.
Every student has to settle his/her financial obligation with EVC before a certificate of completion is released.
